A ride in a small skiff takes four of us from nowhere, where the trimaran was moored, to farther away than that. Ride got a wee bit rough But eventually hit the village. A half mile walk to a "stables", where Savannagh and I rented horses for the trip to the waterfall. Problem was, these weren't horses, they were ponies .. AT BEST. Mine was a big dog with a weird nose. The ground started off easy enough ... then got pretty gnarly
When it started to climb, I took pity on my poor animal that was not much heavier than I am and handed the reins to our guide from the boat. this fellow was making the trip in BARE FEET and was, I'm sure, extremely thankful for the ride. The jungle canopy. Arrived at the creek that is the outfall from the waterfall. 100 2706 100 2707 100 2708

100 2715 100 2716 100 2719 Of course, where there's Mexicans, there's things for sale. Savannagh bought a couple. Only when we were cutting the tags out at the end of the day did we notice that both were "Made in Indonesia". A six hour flight, a two hour boat ride, a three hour hike, only to buy things we could find in Vancouver. Oh well, the beer was fantastic. 100 2725 100 2726
Guess what, another critter. 100 2730 100 2731 100 2733 Here come Hector and Myra, the other couple along on the hike. Myra was pretty quiet .. a wee bit shy, methinks, but Hector turned out to a really good guy and I'm going to try to keep in touch. 100 2737
100 2738 100 2739 100 2740 This place was as pleasant as it looked .. and twice as hot. It had to be 110 or better, with a LONG walk back. The clear blue blue sky, and the white hot sand. Hector made friends with a caballero who had a few extra horses and he offered them a ride back.
Myra looked perfectly comfortable, but ... Hector sure looked like a city boy, even more than me! 100 2749 100 2757 100 2750 100 2751
